To begin the Islamic rites — janazah prayer, body wash, and burial — we kindly ask that the family reach the Cemetery Coordinator first. The Coordinator will then engage Hillcrest Funeral Home and gently arrange every step on the family's behalf.
We invite the family to choose one member or close friend as the primary contact. Coordinating through a single person helps everything move smoothly and avoids confusion during a tender time.
The Coordinator is available at any hour, day or night, and will guide the family through each remaining step — janazah scheduling, ghusl, and burial. We kindly ask that you reach us first, before contacting a funeral home; Hillcrest and the cemetery coordinate every burial through the Coordinator.
If calling immediately is difficult, submit the deceased's name, dates, and a family contact number. The Coordinator will call you back within the hour.
We kindly ask families to reach the Muslim Cemetery Coordinator before contacting a funeral home. The Coordinator will engage Hillcrest Funeral Home, schedule the ghusl, and arrange the burial — coordinating directly helps everything move smoothly and avoids any mixed steps.
In keeping with Islamic tradition and cemetery practice, every burial at the Muslim Cemetery of San Antonio is arranged through the Cemetery Coordinator. This safeguards the cemetery and serves the community for generations to come.
Families may hold an Azaa' to allow family, friends, and the community to gather and share their condolences. To reserve the Dawah Room at the ICSA, submit a request through the Cemetery Coordinator.
The hosting family is responsible for setting up and cleaning up the space, before and after the gathering.
